History Department
Undergraduate Research
Both the theory and the practice of research are vital concerns for History majors at Marist. Students hone their expertise through a wide range of coursework, including either an upper-level Research Seminar or an internship at the nearby . A rich array of research experiences is available to students beyond the traditional classroom as well. Mentored by History Department faculty, History majors have regularly presented their work at undergraduate conferences such as the Phi Alpha Theta Upper New York Regional Conference, which in 2015 was held at the College. Many majors put their skills to work as interns at Marist Archives & Special Collections and at the , which provides opportunities for students to experience "living history" and even to publish their work. Field trips to historical sites such as the FDR Museum also provide crucial context for students' research efforts.
