Compete in Intercollegiate Club Sports

Over 500 students participate in 19 club sports and continue their athletic experience without the time demands of Division I Athletics. Marist鈥檚 recreation programs complement the academic and social experiences of students through the development of organizational skills, leadership qualities, and an appreciation for sportsmanship through intercollegiate athletics opportunities and community service.

Enhance Your Social Experience by Joining a Club Sport

Marist offers 19 club sports and regularly works with students to develop new programs based on demonstrated interest. Clubs typically practice 2-3 times per week and compete against other colleges and universities across the Northeast.

 


 

Club Baseball

Club Baseball is a member of the NCBA Division III, competing against Stony Brook, Stevens Tech, Fordham, Adelphi and Montclair State. Conference play spans both fall and spring semesters.

Cheerleading

The Cheerleading Team is a symbol of school spirit. Throughout the academic year, the program supports the football, and men鈥檚 and women's basketball teams. In addition, the program competes DI in a variety of both regional and national competitions. The Cheerleading team also attends special events and participates in several community service initiatives.

Dance Team

The Dance Team can be seen on both the football and basketball sidelines. Primary styles of dance include jazz, hip hop, and pom with choreography created by student leaders. Each spring, the Dance Team competes regionally and has a presence in the greater Marist community.

Equestrian

Equestrian is an inclusive co-ed club that enables riders of all levels to participate. Crosswinds Equestrian Center, a state-of-the-art facility in LaGrangeville, serves as the club鈥檚 home equine center under the training of coach and alum Clare Knapp. The Zone 3, Region 3 IHSA competition season runs from September through May.

Esports

A member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Esports is an online gaming team that competes in titles including Overwatch, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Rocket League, Valorant and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Marist has claimed conference championships in Overwatch and League of Legends and boasts a membership of more than 70 students.

Fencing

Fencing is an exciting, no experience required club that encourages members to be involved on campus while learning how to safely fence. The club employs drills, open bouts, ladder matches, and inter-club competitions in order to develop technical skills. The club is sanctioned by USA Fencing to participate in official fencing events each semester.

Golf

The Golf Club is a group of students who enjoy playing golf both casually and competitively at the McCann Memorial Golf Course. Members of the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) Metro Region, the club typically competes in one tournament each semester.

Club Ice Hockey

Club Ice Hockey spans a 40-year history steeped with tradition and alumni support. The Mid-Hudson Civic Center serves as the home facility for practices and home contests and is located one mile from campus. It is a member of the Division 2 American Collegiate Hockey Association and the Super East Collegiate Hockey League.

Club Men's Lacrosse

The club men's lacrosse team provides an opportunity to participate in competitive intercollegiate lacrosse without the rigors of a Division I program. In the fall, the team competes informally against local colleges. During the spring season, Marist competes in the NCLL DII NY Metro Division. In 2022, the club captured the conference title and advanced to the National Championship.

Club Women's Lacrosse

Club Women's Lacrosse is a recent addition to the club sport offerings at Marist providing opportunities for over 30 students. The club鈥檚 primary season of competition occurs in the spring as members of the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLA) - NEWLL Div. II South Division supplemented with non-traditional contests scheduled during the fall semester.

Club Men's Rugby

The Men's Rugby Club is open to interested students of all skill levels that enjoy playing rugby or are interested in a new athletic experience. The club participates in The Tri-State Conference with a direct pathway to compete in the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) National Championship. Traditionally, rugby competition spans both semesters with the traditional 15s in the fall and 7s in the spring.

Club Women's Rugby

Women鈥檚 Rugby Club is a team of women who are determined, resilient students that compete in the Tri-State Conference. No previous experience is necessary to join the club and all skill levels are welcome. The fall season consists of 15s rugby style with approximately six conference games followed by playoffs. The spring season is focused on 7s style with informal daily tournaments.

Ski Club

Ski Club is comprised of male and female students who compete in slalom and giant slalom events within the McBrine Division of the United States Collegiate Skiing Association (USCSA). For six weekends throughout January and February, the club travels to challenging ski slopes across New England to race against other regional colleges.

Club Men's Soccer

The Men鈥檚 Club Soccer team competes in the competitive NIRSA Region I division against regional club programs. Conference play begins in early September and is completed by mid-October. Spring competition consists of friendlies against local programs.

Club Women's Soccer

The women's club soccer team is a program dedicated to the advancement of recreation opportunities for women. The club offers female students the opportunity to continue to play game they love, competing in NIRSA Region I while balancing the university experience.

Club Tennis

Established in 2019, club tennis is a competitive team that participates in the USTA Eastern Tennis On Campus League. Open to both male and female tennis players, the club travels to various tournaments across the Northeast. The goal for the club is to qualify for the USTA On Campus League National Tournament.

Club Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate Frisbee is a Co-ed Club sport that is attractive to all students regardless of previous experience. It is a fast-paced game, demanding players to develop throwing skills, stamina, and agility. Ultimate is the only IOC-recognized sport to be self-officiating and promote Spirit of The Game.

Club Men's Volleyball

The men's club volleyball team has been active since the 1990s. A member of the New England Club Volleyball League (NECVL), the club has three established spring weekend dates of competition. Fall play is focused on club development and informal single day tournaments.

Club Women's Volleyball

Marist Club Women's Volleyball is a聽member of the NWVCL Central Division, and competes in conference play in both fall and聽spring semesters. The organization provides an opportunity for competitive play while balancing the university experience.

Earn Priority Points by Participating in Extracurricular Activities

Participation in club sports and other extracurricular activities helps students earn priority points. The priority point system at Marist assigns points to students based on their academic average, involvement with extra-curricular activities, disciplinary history, and condition of their residence area. Students can earn up to three priority points based upon their level of involvement in a clubs and organizations.
