Marist University and SUNY New Paltz Launch Direct Admission Pathway to Doctor of Physical Therapy Program

September 8, 2026 鈥� Marist University and SUNY New Paltz have partnered to launch a new direct admission pathway to Marist鈥檚 accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, creating a streamlined route for qualified SUNY New Paltz undergraduates to secure early acceptance into the graduate degree.
The initiative builds on Marist鈥檚 growing network of academic partnerships鈥攊ncluding similar agreements already in place with Siena University, the University at Albany and Mount St. Mary College鈥攄esigned to expand access to high-demand healthcare careers and strengthen the pipeline of future physical therapists across the region.
Marist鈥檚 CAPTE-accredited DPT program is widely recognized for its rigorous, 32-month curriculum that blends advanced classroom and laboratory instruction with extensive clinical education. With a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio and small class sizes, students benefit from individualized mentorship by experienced faculty. The program features hands-on training across more than 300 clinical rotation sites nationwide, along with unique opportunities for international placements in Italy and Switzerland.

SUNY New Paltz students may apply to the Marist DPT Direct Admission Pathway at any point during their undergraduate studies. Interested students are encouraged to work closely with their pre-health advisor to submit an interest form. Once received, Marist鈥檚 DPT program will connect applicants with a dedicated advisor to guide them through the admissions process.

Marist also offers direct admission opportunities to its own undergraduate students. Eligible students may enter the DPT program in January following completion of their bachelor鈥檚 degree or pursue a pathway, completing their undergraduate degree in 3.5 years and beginning DPT coursework in the spring semester.
