Marist Celebrates Class of 2025 at First Commencement as a University
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. 鈥� Over the weekend, thousands gathered on the campus of Marist University to celebrate the Class of 2025 during a historic milestone in the institution鈥檚 legacy. The 79th Commencement ceremonies were Marist鈥檚 first as a University and honored graduate students on Friday and undergraduate students on Saturday.
Special Commencement speakers included NBC News national political correspondent Steve Kornacki, who addressed the undergraduate class on Saturday, and marketing executive and Marist alumnus John Liporace '88, who spoke at Friday鈥檚 graduate ceremony.
Addressing more than 1,200 undergraduates on Saturday, Kornacki said 鈥淚鈥檓 excited for you because you鈥檙e walking into a world where finding what I found is more possible than ever. You can discover what you鈥檙e truly passionate about and find an outlet for it. If it doesn鈥檛 exist right now, don鈥檛 despair 鈥� it鈥檚 probably coming.鈥�
He added: 鈥淵ou are in for a heck of a ride out there. Enjoy it and squeeze every last drop you can from it.鈥� Kornacki also received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degree from Marist.
University President Kevin Weinman addressed the class, saying, 鈥淚 am deeply proud of you. You鈥檝e shown you can be engaged with the world while still showing care and concern for each other, and for the Marist community as a whole. You鈥檝e shown that 蜜月直播 is a balanced place with a deep sense of belonging. You are now ready to live and thrive in a deeply interconnected world.鈥�
The Class of 2025 is among the most wide-ranging in Marist history, with students hailing from 33 states and 15 countries. Commencement season wraps up a historic year for Marist, marked by the opening of the state-of-the-art Dyson Center and the transition from college to university.
