Emily Yen: Student Organizations Provide Graphic Design Experience

鈥淢y time at Marist has been great, and I value the relationships I鈥檝e formed with other students and my professors. I鈥檓 an editor for the student newspaper The Circle, where I serve as a Chief of Graphic Design. I also attend the Red Ink art club, where we get together to do crafts, socialize, and de-stress. I also just really enjoy the time I spend just working alone in the studio, but at the same time I appreciate the thoughtful critiques and suggestions I receive when my work is viewed by others.鈥�

Customize Your Graphic Design Curriculum

The variety of Graphic Design programs available to you as a Marist student allows you to develop a curriculum that is best for your interests in career goals. You can either pursue one of two Graphic Design programs:

听

  • B.S. in Digital Media with a concentration in Graphic Design: study Digital Media and specialize in graphic design with courses like 鈥淭ypography and Design,鈥� 鈥淢ultimedia Authoring,鈥� and 鈥淒igital Illustration鈥�
  • Graphic Design Minor: an excellent option for students who are planning to double-major, have multiple minors, or are interested in pursuing a more thorough study of the liberal arts

Interdisciplinary Graphic Design Collaboration

At Marist, we value the opportunities for our students to work hand-in-hand with students from other fields of study. As a Graphic Design student, you鈥檒l be able to work side-by-side with Games and Emerging Media students on design for video games, create designs for stories for the Marist Circle, Marist鈥檚 student-run newspaper, and Business students on promotional materials for entrepreneurial pursuits.
