Appointed Associate Vice President of Development in April 2023, Mike Byerley leads the University's fundraising programs such as annual giving, planned giving, foundation relations, and individual giving. After a career in engineering and ministry, Mike shifted into fundraising in higher education at Duke University at the Fuqua School of Business. During Duke鈥檚 comprehensive campaign, he advanced to Chief Development Officer for the Graduate School, where he worked closely with the Dean to grow the fundraising program and manage the Board of Visitors. In 2019, Mike joined Emory University鈥檚 Advancement and Alumni Engagement Division as the Managing Senior Director of Development, where he led a team of major gift officers.  Mike has always enjoyed working with donors, but in his prior role, he found a new professional source of enjoyment in advising other fundraising professionals to help them reach higher results. Mike is married to Dr. Julie Byerley, MD, and they have two grown sons.
